Arsenal 2010/2011 Kit “Revealed”

The folks over at Arsenal Insider have “mocked up” (photoshopped) the above shirt based on their “insider knowledge” (whatever) and here’s the thing for me: I don’t care that it’s a fugazi, I LOVE IT!

Please, Arsenal, please make this shirt.

That is all.

I would sleep in that shirt! Or maybe I would just make a shrine to it and burn incense to it every day. Either way, that has the look of a trophy-winning kit.

They were bang on last year, would be a nice choice

Way to similar to the 2006-08 design for them to choose that I think.

  • I wouldn’t mind that. Would be even better if it were cotton. Assuming of course we can afford a Constanza-esque situation of course.

    OH DAMN I WANT THIS.

seriously. i bought the redcurrant and gold and dark blue third kit because i thought it was cool. i bought the white kit because it wasn’t blue.

but i didn’t realllyyy want them. i want this. very badly.

The business. A real Arsenal shirt. Red… with white sleeves, not redcurrant, not stripes down the arms, not blue, not white, not redcurrant/navy hoops, not pinstripes…

RED shirt. WHITE sleeves. This is Arsenal, not Sparta Prague, not Charlton, not Chelsea, not Spurs, not Barcelona, not your manager’s suit.

You yanks at Nike, wake up and get it right this time will you? RED shirt. WHITE sleeves. That is all.

the nike kits have been very weak. i wouldn’t blame that on “yanks” though. nike is a corporation. they have no home. i would much prefer this design to the weird lego nonsense we have been wearing since henry left. however what addidas has done to some teams: bayern and chelsea in particular, is just ghastly. but, they’re blue. but, they’re horrifying.

Every single Gooner of my acquaintance would buy this.

And some of the married ones too (fla-doom)

Seriously though, awesome. We can but pray…

@fourstar, that’s the approach… tell Arsenal that we’ll all buy the kit, which will give Arsene the money to buy a superstar, WHICH HE WILL BUY GOD DAMN IT, and then everyone is a winner.

Sweet Christ I want that kit. Every Arsenal fan wants that kit. Hear that, Nike? The people have spoken!

  • Will you girls put down the credit cards?

    Jeez.

Fucking ugly. You style gurus are typical football fans. You’ll be needing an Xtra large.

Nicest Arsanal home shirt for a long time.

However, it would be even better if we could get rid of the sponsor’s logo and replace the club crest with a simple cannon.

Though I like that we’re going back to white sleeves, Nike seems to have run out of ideas the past 5-6 years as their shirts have all been really unimaginative. At least Adidas is also making some crappy shirts too so it’s not like their main competition is outdoing them.

Now Puma is definitely the best shirt designer as of late.

    @WC,

My roommate is a huge Roma fan, and I bought him a black Totti jersey and immediately wanted it for myself. Kappa seems to know how to make a nice kit as well.

@dooley, I like Roma’s jersey but Kappa really only has 1 or 2 really good designs and they just milk it.

@WC, i love the plain red and white Arsenal kits that is how they should be. I also love the Sampdoria Kit that Kappa make, all of them, the blue home, the white away and the black third kit is more like a fashion item then a football kit but they are all skin tight…. not everyones cup of tea but nice kits.
oh i got a soft spot for sampa cos of David Platts playing time there! and probably the most original kit also, hardly changed since they were founded.

Love the shirt – hate the new Arsenal crest on it…I wonder if we can put enough pressure on them to just use the cannon?

Still, better then recent attempts. Anyone heard anything about the rumour that Adidas are going to come back as Kit makers for us?

    Vote -1 Vote +1dooley Reply:

@Grimbo, Apparently the cannon couldn’t be copy-written, which led to the “crest” and it’s all over the Emirates and such, but it is terribly ugly. There is so much Arsenal branded shit on the dot com (balls, posters, wall clocks, slippers, hats) that I probably would buy if the crest wasn’t so atrocious.

Heyyo Tim, I was wondering if you saw Gilberto Silva’s comments about missing the club?

    If so, here’s the link

    http://www.sport.co.uk/news/Football/34611/I_miss_everything_about_Arsenal.aspx

but the article is just confirmation of what every Gooner already knew. Gilberto is of a class of individual, not just player, that any club would kill to keep around. I understand the age policy and letting these guys go in order to move in new talent (Denilson. We’ll see) but it seems like Arsene could have really done himself a serious favor by keeping guys like Gil and Pires around. Well, what’s done is done, but now it’s time for Arsene to bring some of these vintage folks back into the fold of the club. Song, Denilson, or Ramsey would all benefit tremendously from Gilberto’s presence.

Pat Rice would end up having the sweet job of matchmaking:

Samir, I’d like you to meet Robert.

DAMMIT NICKLAS, PULL UP YOUR PANTS AND MEET MR. BERGKAMP ON THE TRAINING GROUND. NOW.

Maybe this is romanticism, maybe it’s time to give up on The Arsenal 97-03, but I don’t see why. They were a group of players with tremendous technical ability but also very positive character.

Adams. Bergkamp. Pires. Silva. all of them scary talented. all of them with massive hearts.

and who knows, maybe David Seaman or Jens (FORTY YEARS OLD) could conduct a little course in CATCHING CROSSES.

    eh. cheers.
