Arsenal v. Blackpool; why hang over when you can hang on?

Up late but the sausages are done and coffee made so I’m fully ready..

Quit fucking around and get to the “news.”

Uhh.. What?

You heard me, quit your gibberish about your early morning breakfast routine “ohhh look at me, I eat sausages for breakfast on days that I consider a special occasion” and get on with news about Arsenal.

Ok, so, according to the twitter

God. I mean who do you think you are? George Steinbeck or something?

I think you mean JOHN Steinbeck.

No. I mean George, John’s retarded little brother. Just tell people what they came here to hear and shut up with the “gonzo journalism.”

Wait, who the fuck are you?

Your hangover.

Oh.

Now, do that thing you do where you use an English colloquialism in your writing, like ‘muppet’ or ‘cunt.’

You are being quite the cunt.

YES. I. AM.

Can I at least get this started?

Finally.

So, anyway, there isn’t much to say apart from the sausages, pancakes and coffee so I thought I’d give the regulars a place to express their joy and pain.

As for the actual Arsenal news, it looks like Song is starting at center back, Diaby gets the nod in midfield, Wilshere and Walcott are starting on the wings, Rosicky in the general’s role, and Lazy (he’s one of the dwarfs, innit?) is paired with Chamakh up front.

Also, it looks like we are playing with a Bocephus sticker on our 4-4-2, let’s hope we light ‘em up just for fun.

Pulitzer prize, here we come!

Right, match is about to start. Get in! And you go to hell, hangover.

1:0 12 min a good goal by Walcott…

Could we get someone on the end of these crosses?

Good Goal Walcott!
He is having a good season opener.
Arsenal should massacre Blackpool tonight.

I’ve never seen Theo more assertive and energetic. Wow, keep it up. Should be about 7 nil at this point.

I hope the fans in the stadium applause Blackpool. they come to the Emirates intended to play football instead of parking the bus or being too physical.
For the Arsenal, it is a walk in the park. Let us give them 6-0 or even more…
Cesc may have a warm up in the second half..

Sorry Blackpool and Nick but normal service has been resumed at The Emirates.

Walcott having a MOTM first half.

The Makh Attack has had a poor miss (needed to be more clinical although he was trying for that), 2 excellent shots that drew great reaction saves from Gilks and drew a PK with his hustle. He’s getting there.

Arshavin excellent PK.

Rosicky is just a ball of fire today putting real speed into our counters and making good decisions on the ball.

Tim, I’m jealous of your sausages and pancakes. All I have is a bowl of Cruncy Nut Flakes.

How about that Theo, eh?

Rosicky’s movement is superb, Chamakh’s playing great, could have had a couple but he’s not the best finisher with his footses (we knew this already).

Bit bizarre to see Wilshere holding though.

Sagna is like a man possessed.

what a sweet finish by diaby

@nycgunner, Absolutely, made it look like it was nothing.

For once, Walcott should be man of the match tonight…

Vote -1 Vote +1nycgunner

well done walcott!

Well, it doesn’t get much easier than that.

Chamakh, it would seem, has been taking lessons from Big Nick! He’s a tryer though.

NooooOOooo~ Van Persie!

Vote -1 Vote +1Teampossible

Wow, ChaMiss, not very focused, I guess he really represents serious competition for Bendtner now :) . But I hope we don’t see the headlines tomorrow: Van Persie to be absent for 2-3 weeks with calf injury. But overall, entertaining game, we could have scored 18 goals so far.

Vote -1 Vote +1Teampossible

@Teampossible, Well, I guess he just read my post, good header:)

Vote -1 Vote +1Shobo

CHAMAKH!! He’s deserved it, been all over the damn place but it hasn’t fallen for him till now.

Just like a preseason game.
Blackburn is very poor tonight. May we have another massacre
against Fat Sam next week?

Vote -1 Vote +1joe

@DF, The wont come and attack like blackpool did. They’ll park the bus and put in bad tackles.

Vote -1 Vote +1nycgunner

we scored lots of good goals today but i have to say the first goal we scored today really stood out for me. what a nice flowing move.

the tiny tots got a lucky win against stoke today. why dont we have goal line technology yet?

Vote -1 Vote +1Akash

Theo might have gotten the hatrick but but my MoM is Rosicky. I’m going to say that this was his best game ever in an Arsenal jersey.

Vote -1 Vote +1Shobo

@Akash, Rosicky was great in the middle, the game slowed considerably when Cesc took over (obviously not at full titness yet, yes, I said titness).

Chamakh’s work rate was impressive, as was Wilshere’s. Was Almunia even playing? I think he caught the ball in the first half and kicked it out to Clichy a couple of times, but that was it.

Vote -1 Vote +1Akash

You’d never think Song is a DM. Looks completely comfortable at the back. Brilliant. Considering we didn’t have Cesc and RvP starting and Song/Diaby playing in the wrong position this was a brilliant result.

But Credit to Blackpool. They played football till the very end. It probably got them slaughtered but hey its football not break leg and they played it the right way. Hats off to them.

Vote -1 Vote +1Shobo

@Akash, Pretty sure Song actually started at CB. He had a great game there today, but he scares me when he plays there against good attacking teams, his stabbing at the ball tackling style is great in DM, but in the pelanty box it’s a little unnerving.

Vote -1 Vote +1GunnedDown

@Akash, Well…Song might look comfortable at the back against teams like Blackpool but he is definitely not a center half. He is way too slow and could easily be caught in a counter attack. His spot jump is abysmal and he is not a tall fellow like Samba who can clear ball with his feet at the ground.
If Wenger think him as a center half then we lose a good DM and gain nothing…sadly.

Vote -1 Vote +1Akash

Vela had a good game too. Hopefully the Vela haters will now lay low (for a while atleast).

Vote -1 Vote +1Shobo

@Akash, Vela had a good game. I hope he gets more time. We have a great squad of forwards and should really consider rotating more often this season to preserve fitness. Arshavin is a hell of a player, but Vela’s looked hot in pre-season.

We still have players coming back in Ramsey, Nasri and Djourou as well. Now if we can just sort things out at the back…

Vote -1 Vote +1ArseChicago

Rosicky looked very comfortable orchestrating everything at midfield. Diaby looked great and worked hard (credit where it’s due). Walcott’s still MOTM. Goals aside, his work and energy were tireless. That is the type of stuff I expected of someone that was upset at being left off the England squad. Very fun to watch today. Too early to put too much stock into it, however. Great show.

Vote -1 Vote +1ctpa

Top to bottom this was a great game. We did what teams aspiring to win trophies do and that’s finish off weaker teams. No more Hulls, please.

For all those clowns saying that we are looking to buy Steklenburg, there is one small problem-he’s cup tied.

We may have to learn to play against a full 11 man squad someday.

LONDON CALLING:
Blackpool supporters at half time: “We are gonna win 4-3”
Arsenal supporter’s response: “We won’t see here next year”
“Big up” to the Blackpool fans, even at 5-0 down, they were the loudest and made the fullest noise at the Emirates. For all you pessimist out there, I told you we won’t do a Hull. I attended that Hull game two years ago, and remember the strike by the Hull player, Manuel did not have a chance. Today, apart from a header, Manual had nothing to do. Don’t worry about Blackpool having 10 men for most of the game, our number 14 was in charge today and would have won the game singlehandedly.

The game: We started cagily, but after a few minutes the Arsenal started to pass the ball well. Theo was magnificent, and all you naysayers who said bad things about him, I say ! So there!
The first twenty minutes he bossed the game and could have been three up.

What a miss by Chamakh in the first half, but he kept in trying and got his goal in the end.

I think Rosicky played exceptionally well today and apart from one miss-pass; Jack, was the man in the middle, a massive 7 marks to the boy. Our Captain, Cesc, came on for the last twenty minutes. There was a great smile, but something is still not right. He hasn’t found his Arsenal ”mojo” which will come I hope in a month’s time. The Captain Programme notes gave little and really contained not much. He implied a “no comment” on the summer saga, and re- confirmed his loyalty to Arsenal. But Robin’ game was better, and my heart skipped a beat when he went down in the opposition goal area injured.

Song play the defender role, and he caught every high ball that came his way, Arshavin created Theo first goal, he tried today, but having seen Audrey all pre-season plus games at the Emirates, I think there is something not quite right with him, he must be carrying some form of injury. The man had three months off during the summer (April, 2010 last game)

Prior to the game the Clock was official ”blessed” at the “ Clock End”. This was inaugurated with very loud sounds and images of games gone by at both Highbury and the Emirates. I applauded the Ian Wright and Bergkamp goals. Oh those glory days. The seat next to me was empty today, but 60,000 plus attended the game. Summer holidays the reason I feel.

The downside: I want us to make more noise at the Emirates, even being 6-0 up we rarely made a sound. Arsenal supporter: we scored six goals today, and did not concede one. I think it was a good day. “Up the Arse”. London Out

@margarette adrien,
Thanks for the report.
I agree with your statement about Cesc: “There was a great smile, but something is still not right.” though I just watched the game on TV, and only saw Cesc when he got the ball, or had a close up, I noticed that he is not the same old Cesc as last season. I guessed he is a little embarrassed, a little anxious how the fans will receive him. Yet he delivers a great shot from a Vela corner which is blocked.
Wilshere is learning to become the next Cesc, I think. That is why he plays in different positons in midfield–attacking midfielder; holding midfielder; on the left and on the right–in different games. His pass to Walcott for the 3-0 is good thinking. I hope he grows up fast.
I would say the only disappointment is Clichy–not that he plays badly, but compared with the rest of the team, he shows more weaknesses than strength like he still cannot deliver a good cross; still nervous at times when defending. I hope Wenger will give more playing time and chance to Gibbs to see if Gibbs may be a better option.

@margarette adrien, I couldn’t help watching Cesc come on and feeling a bit sad. I appreciate how he kept his mouth shut and didn’t spit the dummy when he didn’t get the move that he clearly wanted. I do think he loves Arsenal. But it’s like dating a girl and her saying, “You’re great. I really like you. Now, if Johnny over there were to become available, I’d leave you in a second, but he’s the only I’d leave you for. Really. I love you.”

I mean… great. We’re still together and all… but it doesn’t feel the same. Maybe when he bangs home a few goals and creates something out nothing I’ll lose sight of my idealism. For now though… it’s just weird. Wish I could look at him now the way I looked at him last season.

Still glad he’s ours, though. And very glad he’s not Barca’s.

Top blog today Hangover!!

Too bad Wigan gave away silly goals to chelski.

Keep it up guys. We’re only starting…

I have to say, that was fun to watch today. But for me, the best part about it was the fact that we didn’t let up until the game was well and truly won. If we’d been 3-0 at the half last season, we would’ve taken the foot off the gas and let the other side back in with a few well-timed F***-ups. Not today!

Fantastic day out yesterday. The Tangerines were loud and proud long after the game was finished. “Best away support I’ve ever seen” was a comment I overheard several times on my way back. I reckon it might be. :)
