Liveblogging Ball Wipers v. Arsenal

Morning all, how about them Chelsea fans eh? For the first 30 minutes or so they booed Wayne Bridge every time he touched the ball and I really cvouldn’t understand what it was that made him the pantomime villian. Until I realized that every one of those people booing Wayne Bridge were doing so because they actually thought he had done some wrong: after all, they would let John Terry diddle their wives in a heartbeat. I mean, how dare Wayne Bridge rebuke what is clearly an honor in the hearts of the Chelsea supporters?
It’s the only thing that makes sense.
My favorite moment of the match, though, was when Wayne Bridge refused to shake John Terry’s hand. I know it’s not the sporting thing to do, but then it’s not very sporting to bone your teammate and best friend’s girlfriend. I don’t know why more folks don’t refuse to shake his hand, you could always make the excuse that you were afraid of STDs.
How ironic is is that it was Wayne Bridge’s clearance and John Terry’s shockingly poor form at center back for Chelsea which saw Manciti equalize? I mentioned that I felt like Chelsea were “clearly struggling” during the Inter match and watching them again I’d like to reiterate that assertion. Now, without Cech back there to save them, they are looking like a very average defensive team, who lack a real midfield (what does Ballack DO?), and who rely entirely on magic from Drogba to put teams to the sword. Moreover, they are an extremely indisciplined side and now that they’ve been exposed as a bunch of cheats, led by the cheater-in-chief, they managed to lose two men to red cards. I can only hope more referees see them in this new light, though I highly doubt it.
Anyway, this isn’t a Chelsea, City, Bridge, Terry blog, is it? Arsenal have a real chance to make up 3 points when they take on Stoke in the Potteries in just a little bit and we’re going to have a little liveblog covering the match.
For those of you who have used this coveritlive.com software before you’ll know that the actual liveblog doesn’t start until I authorize it and that will be happening around 9am local time. Another bit you should know is that I either have to authorize individual comments or I have to give each person free reign to comment. I’m not quite sure how to handle that last bit yet because there’s also a problem with time delay; the matches in the States are time delayed by a few minutes so, if I authorize my British readers to comment they will let the cat out of the bag on any big moments in the match.
Basically, if I don’t authorize you to comment freely don’t take it personally.
Anyway, to get into the liveblog click here. Start time is 9am PST and the earlier you get in the earlier I can authorize you to comment, or not authorize you as the case may be!
See you there…

I believe they were booing Bridge because he quit the England team.
All chav fans who booed bridge are a disgrace,he played his heart out for them despite cashley’s arrival only for terry to fuck up the mother of his children and abort a kid!they are the same fans that adore terry and cashley’s actions and should be ashamed.KGB Ballack said the only way to beat us is counterattack, well it looks like you spoke about your team too.chavs were exposed today, they have few moments of quality but over-rely on physicality too much, when it doesn’t work they whine like sore losers.
These are the booers:

Hehe.
@XTG, yeah, that guy would totally let Terry do his wife.
It would be an honor.
@XTG, seriously, WTF is wrong with these people?!? Team Terry?!?
Eboooooee starts in midfield.
@Patrick, My hero:

Oh look we concede from a Delap throw-in. How retarded do you have to be to keep falling for the same trick over and over again…….
Very !!!!
http://arsenalist.com/ has the tackle. Can someone take a look at it? I’m afraid to.
@Patrick, I need a whole bottle of whiskey/rum/gin before I look at it again. Brb.
I refuse to look at it. Ran out of Rum.
@Caribkid69, Ok I looked. You can’t see shit. They didn’t replay it up close like the Dudu one.
I’ve been supporting this team for over 30 years and I have NEVER sat through a more emotional game then that. Fabregas is a GIANT! Words cannot describe this team’s performance today. I’ll leave it to Le Boss.
Called my brother in the middle of it. I couldn’t talk.
Arsenal came of age today. We did not allow the Ramsey injury to rattle us and instead went about the task of taking care of business. In fact, Stoke looked like they were more rattled than us.
For the first in a very long time our forwards and attacking midfielders freely interchanged positions which did not allow Stoke to man mark and press as they normally do.
Refereeing was SHIAT as usual with 2 clear penalties against us not given and Song received a non-deserved yellow card for a foul which did not exist.
very difficult to choose a MOTM as everyone played fairly well without excelling. Probably go to Cesc.
Cesc also seems to be maturing nicely and the group session after the game spoke volumes for his personal growth as captain.
Sol again played extremely well.
i did not understand the booing either, but Chelsea should have put the match away before lampart’s goal. the club still has the personnel to win the league.
but Arsenal supporters don’t want to read more about Chelsea’s chances, and i hope Ramsey gets better.
Just in case we aren’t all sickened enough by Shawcross he has been rewarded by a call up to the England national team.
So England rewards thuggery it seems.
@Chary, I hope John Terry boinks his missus.
@XTG, It’s the very least this excrescence of a person deserves. Sadly the media will turn it into another excuse to bash Arsenal.
I missed the match today as I got married downtown at City Hall. During brunch though, I sneak away to see the result. And to see a text from my friend saying his wife gave birth to their twins (two boys). Doesn’t get much better than this.
I think a Congratulations is in store!
A double dose of Congratulations is in order, ArseChicago.
Thank you guys. Though I just watched the taped match and am still sick to my stomach about Ramsey. I had only seen a score and waited to see everything this afternoon while taking a few hours off before hitting the bar celebration tonight. Feel so so awful about this injury.
@ArseChicago, Don’t feel bad about the injury, feel happy for your new life.
All over the internet people are saying Arsenal fans are being a little harsh on Shitface for his tackle on Ramsay. I’ve watched is as slow as possible in a few different capacities many, many times, and he came in high and he came in hard, and if the ref was doing his job properly, stoke players wouldn’t feel like they could get away with that. Stoke are a physical team, not much else, and they have been allowed to carelessly drop players all year long, especially at home. Most teams design themselves to be finesse squads, built around a central skillful player. Stoke is a rugby squad. If refs chained them to the same rules as other teams, they would be relegated. You can see it on Sol’s face, he says it all, like, “if you had called the game properly, this might not have happened.” You don’t earn any points with me if you’re crying after you broke someone’s lg, it simply means you were playing at a level you weren’t comfortable with, playing out of control, and the result is that you are human inside, and it sucks to endanger another human being, that’s normal, that’s not worthy of praise. He’s still a cunt, just a cunt with feelings. Maybe he’ll take it down a notch next time he comes in flying like that. Another Arsenal injury, and it’s going to be hard to convince players to sign with a team that gets such little protection as Arsenal. If I was a young player, would I want to risk my career playing for Arsenal when they have such little immunity from the refs in this league? Hopefully, but perhaps not….
@mcnabber, McNabber – what the media will now do is make it Aaron’s fault for getting in the way of a committed tackle. that’ll be the “angle” for the papers on Monday.
All the so called experts and tabloid writers can shouldr a portion of the blame for 3 leg breaks in 5 years to our players as they have said it’s ok to “get in the Arsenal’s faces” and that they don’t like it up them. These people legitamise these rough house tactics. I wrote an article for a blog last week showing how much more we are fouled but penalised when we foul back : http://arsenalarsenal.wordpress.com/2010/02/22/carry-on-fouling-they-arsenal-dont-like-it-up-them-mr-mainwaring/
I can empathise with how Wenger feels – proud of the way we fought back but sad for yet another one of our players whose career my lay in tatters.
But of course the media will say “Same old Arsenal, always cheating”
I think Cesc is staying. For a long time. For another two or three or five years. Obviously that could change at any moment, especially in the boardroom/if Wenger gives up, but both of them are very much in love with this club at the moment. I think Cesc likes being in control of the team, this is HIS club, and that will never be the case in Catalonia. I think he’s worth a 40 million pound “transfer fee” of a contract if it will keep him around. Break the wage structure, the other players would understand, they would welcome it.
Watching the team come to him after the penalty and (in what may well prove to be THE pivotal moment of the year) after the match sent a very strong message about the difference in spirit the club has under Cesc’s leadership rather than William “Cappy” Gallas. Sol looks to be class, if a bit out of shape. Vermaelen has become a senior player quickly. Song was in the “invisible” Gilberto right behind Cesc or attacking. He can attack.
Our midfield is terrifying and today we lost one of our brightest prospects. So everybody hope and pray and yadda yadda for Aaron. Maybe the FA will say something. I doubt it.
dooley, those FA cunts will not say much. They are spineless bigots, as corrupt as hell. Tripple doeses of shame on the iZombies, most especially, the P(l)undits.
i just read an interesting point. players who are sent off for bone breaking offenses should be sidelined as long as the injured player. they definitely shouldn’t be rewarded with international call-ups.
i can even speak… this is getting very emotional..
Very very proud of this team, every single one of them on the pitch today. Arsene and this team are fighting the good fight out there, playing football the right way. Can’t tell you how much I want these guys to achieve the title.
What exactly does Pulis mean by “it is a bad challenge”? I’d like for him to explain that.
How do you like this from a clod-hopper fan:

“…There is no doubt in my mind that he recognised genuine remorse, and, unlike the excitable idiots, Wenger included,he accepts that football is a full blooded mans (or for that matter women’s) game where sometimes major injuries will occur.”
