Picture special
Very quickly, because I have to meet a man about some black pudding, here’s some photos that I took of the trip so far. After breakfast I’ll be back with a real post.
Flew in on a clear day, you could see Highbury and the Emirates. It’s amazing how central Arsenal are to the city.

Took the tube to Holloway Road, it’s amazingly close to the stadium, but unfortunately it closes down after the match. I came out of the station, walked a block and this is what I saw:

Getting closer:

In the shop I saw the strangest stuff branded with the Arsenal logo. Does anyone really buy an Arsenal toaster? For $60?

Once inside, this is how close I was to the action, I mean Cesc looked fully, uhh, 5’6″ or so:

And this is how close the Burnley supporters were:

Chary was allowed to take some photos, there were no stewards where he was sitting. Here’s one of Jensen clattering Nasri:

After the match, the sun was shining on a pile of Tottenham:

How do you end the night? A large glass of Fuller’s… or 10!

Tim- great to meet you on sat. I have some pics and recorded some video but probably won’t get to uploading until I get back. I’ll post them and send info. Walcott and Nasri were awesome. Really good to see nasri step up when Cesc went off. Bendtner was frustrating but I was happy to be part of crowd to cheer him. It shows the solidarity of the fans and desire to support the players on their off days. Good to see. Off to do more in London. Going to stadium tour with Perry Groves at 1230 today. Can’t wait for Tues night. Maybe catch u before that game as well.
@gsco, you too. You and and your wife were lovely.
Yeah, we should try to meet somewhere for a pint before the match on Tuesday.
Great photos Tim! You should do a photo blog of your Arsenal trips someday.
If any of you guys watch Red Dwarf, there’s an actual part of the script where someone says something like “A load of tottenham, that is. A steaming pile of hotspur” – Tim must have been thinking of that when he shot the 8th picture. I think the Red Dwarf writers must have been Gooners !
@Chary, I was absolutely thinking of that quote.
Funny enough, I was standing there taking the photo when some kids walked by and said “he’s taking pictures of shit!” and I said, “no, Tottenham.”
They laughed.
@Chary, Another great Tottenham reference is in the movie “In Bruges,” where the two main characters (played by Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell) are considering a painting of the last judgment, and heaven and hell:
Believe it or not, I was the only one in my Akron, Ohio, theater to laugh at the joke …
jesus – london pride is fucking terrible. somehow needs to take you by the hand here, i’m sure.
BTW Red Dwarf is a sci-fi comedy series: http://www.reddwarf.co.uk/news/index.cfm
cool thanks for the info
The guys at Arsenal.arsenal have put this site up on their Blogroll sidebar, incidentally.
@Chary, thanks for reminding me, I put them up as well just now.
great tottenham lol
Nice photos, Tim. The toaster looks awesome, you should’ve bought it.
Hey, is that a Sounders scarf you are wearing?
Also, great pics, mate. Thanks for posting.
Not only is London Pride a King of beers, wouldnt you love to have them as shirt sponsors!!
Tasty! I mean the sight of the stadium, the toaster, and the London Pride, not the you know what…
was that a sounders scarf?
