Bust a move

The smell of cocoa butter and Zinc Oxide fills the air; summer is surely here. It’s so bright out, and since summer is new, the inversion layer hasn’t even had time to trap the air over Tacoma and make us all feel gritty. It’s a pure, clean heat and when I play football today it will be a pure, clean sweat.

If you are unfortunate enough to have to sit at home and you need a dose of Vitamin T, check out my column on Robin van Persie’s career by the numbers over on Arseblog News. It’s one part Harpers Index and two parts Footprints in the Sand.

Robin van Persie said to Arsene Wenger,
“You promised me Arsene,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?”

Arsene replied,
“Robin, times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you.”

Have made the annual trip from my physical home in the Pacific Northwest to my spiritual home in London every year since 2006 when I saw Arsenal beat Charlton 3-0. That’s the most concise way of putting this dire situation so far. And the one that will probably live longest in my memory. cheers! :-)

What I mean to say is that ya’all have moved on from RvP’s reluctance to rise to the occasion, his inability to meet the team’s needs

That has got to be one of the happiest and funniest photos of football players, they look like two Swedish milk girls on a meadow.
In fact, I was just about to splash some Photoshop over it, until I realized I now don’t like Van Persie anymore.
And btw, I remember that story and I felt bad reading it.

Wenger says he won’t change his philosophy ie buy kids,2nd rate,100 one hundred passes bf shooting, etc.Well if the gunners cannot challenge for the epl and are stuck in md table by Xmas,he will have to go..
The epl is getting tougher to win each passing year.1993 to 2001,rd won 7 titles. 2001 -to 2009 4 tiltles. That shows rf is feeling the heat. What chance therfore for Wenger?
Well I hope he proves me wrong.Ha he e almost pulled it off in 2008 only to be denied by the deliberate injury to Eduardo and ref bias. or in competence. We will probably know the full extent of the refs bias fifty years from now or after rf is gone.
As for Wenger, plain simple common sense dictates that if plan aint working you go to plan b and so on.I’m afraid is getting delusional and that is bad news for Arsenal.

Wenger won’t change his philosophy. It means as long as he is in charge he will never be able to take the gunners to the promised land, epl trophy.Tactically he has lost it with his one dimensional style with over emphasis on attack and pretty soccer. He refuses to acknowledge that his defence is a shambles .49 goals conced ed is proof of that.
That is why RVP has lost faith in him and thinks the gunners are unlikely to win the epl especially if no change is made. The two new players do not significantly address the short comings in the defence although Bould might surprise the fans positively.
I am afraid Wenger living on past glories and is unlikely to get the gunners firing for the epl trophy.

Were you complaining when Wenger was winning trophies with that same style? He is not far off from achieving that perfect team again

@James Gunner … Do you mean the plan of building a team of young players, keeping them together under the Arsenal umbrella so they develop into top class players, … and therefore will be more loyal to the club?
    That one?
Yes, that was a utopian dream that hit the reality wall. Arsene admits that. The Podolski signing endorses that.
Imagine the utter betrayal AW feels right now? Not just RVP, or those before, but from Theo Walcott? A player who every time he opens his mouth has said what a great club Arsenal is, and even though he has failed to deliver fully on his promise as a youngster. He has seen the £££’s before his eyes … What then of AOC when he gets to the heights he promises?
Yes, being successful on the pitch, with trophies, may help. But ultimately, the playthings of the very rich will still turn a few heads?
If AW can still muster up the drive to overcome these distractions, we as fans, should also muster up the drive to support him, the club, and everthing that goes with it?

This is with reference to Ssinderias. When Wenger last won the the trophy in 2004,he had a great defence and a top quality gk in Seaman/Lehman. Since then the defence has gone downhill. The gunners have been using a 2nd or even 3rd rate gk the last six years.
This season the big german defender could prove to be a liability. The German league is unlike the fast paced epl and he could be exposed in one on one encounter.
Hopefully big Bould can finally shore up the defence. But if he is a yes man I fear for the dfence.

Last season’s defense and goals conceded had some anomalies: new CB, new RB, all fullbacks out with long term injuries AT THE SAME TIME, lopsided result at old Trafford. How were those directly Wenger’s fault? Don’t go by number of goals conceded alone. It’s misleading
