Stop talking about Arsenal’s finances and watch some video of the 2-0 win over Liverpool instead

Let’s take a break from all the talk about Arsenal’s finances for a minute.

First some site news: I am still working on another redesign. I need a site that works on all mobile platforms and doesn’t break every time I post. To that first end, the site might look a little more generic than it does now but really it’s the content that you want, right? To the second end, I might have to empty the database of all previous comments. I know, I don’t want to but after four years of this, the comments section of my database is massive and I think that’s what’s killing my site. If I do empty the comments section, I will save them for posterity.

Anyway, enough of that. Here are some videos of Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Liverpool courtesy the YesNetwork folks. The audio is a bit weird because there are no crowd sounds. Anfield’s “famous atmosphere” is usually quite subdued but not this subdued. Someone forgot to include an audio layer, methinks. Anyway, they are still pretty cool videos and are now a feature of the site.

Podolski starts the move, Cazorla pressed the attack, passes back, and Poldi finishes under Reina’s weaker left arm

Sterling with a lovely turn and shot wide. Mannone was in good position for the save anyway.

Agger left all alone on a corner, horriblle miss.

Cazorla withh a nice run, Poldi given plenty of time on the ball in a dangerous place, plays in Cazorla who is unmarked and the liittle Spaniard lashes the ball into Reina’s weaker left arm and scores. Note Giroud’s position at the end of the video: perfectly placed to pounce should Reina have made the save. He’s ready to score, folks. It will happen!

Stevie Vee’s free kick charged down by Arteta

Wish there was a better angle of this tackle, but it’s a toe-perfect tackle from Arsenal’s big German to deny Sterling.

Great tackle by Vermaelen to deny Suarez the low, powerful drive that might have beat the keeper. This tackle is the subtle difference between conceding and a clean sheet. Also, this is something that doesn’t show up on the stat sheet in Vermaelen’s faavor — except as yet another in a large catalog of Suarez misses.

Thanks for posting the video clips,Tim, they are great to watch and give useful evidence to support/refute the err.. wide-ranging opinions expressed in the comments section.

Interesting similarities and differences in the two goals. The first shows how crucial it can be for us to hit quickly on the break, I’ve always felt this should be our first weapon in combating the “bus” defense, to the extent that I almost want to see us inviting those teams into our half, just to create some space for a quick counter. The second is just a classic Arsenal goal where quick precision passing and off-ball movement can slice open even the most packed defense… and yes, I realize that undermines my previous point, and if we can score like that regularly I suppose we wouldn’t need the quick-break tactic so much. Together the two goals give me huge optimism; the vision, accuracy and movement at such high speed, with new players meshing after only a few games… maybe AW really does know what he’s talking about… ;-)

I really like the YES network (besides all that Yankees crap). Arsenal World and Arsenal 360 are weekly DVR favorites.

I loved that impromtu battle on the wing between our ox and liverpools *stallion. Two youngsters trying to show the world who’s better. Come on the OX!!

Wenger still rates “Fatboy Slim” to come good at Juventus. He also didn’t used the word ‘derisive’ to describe Juventus’ 7m RVP offer but Juventus’ responsive means they got the message. I’m paraphrasing: we met our transfer targets for reasonable salaries. Yeah, right.

Thanks Tim. Too bad YES didn’t have footage of Gibbs’ miss, I think it was, or they’d see that Arsenal’s plan was to attack Reina from the right and shoot across him at the far post, cause his left hand/ arm is not just weak, as you say, but downright flappy.

If I was Liverpool fan, I’d worry that the rest of the league has noticed, and Pepe will be flapping a lot more.

Suddenly Diaby is the flavor of the week and he scores for France today in their WC qualifier. How long before Man City or Barcelona start their yapping? We can never fully enjoy when good things happen to us can we?

It may be naïve of me, but I’d like to think that if some big club started making eyes at Diaby, he’d show a bit more loyalty than some of our other players. Wenger has kept faith in his ability when most coaches wouldn’t.

Which is not to say that, in this hypothetical scenario, Diaby would definitely not move somewhere else. But at least he probably wouldn’t be an utter dick about it like some have.

That article’s title is a prime example of how journalists completely distort quotes in order to stir up controversy needlessly. RVP didn’t even mention Arsenal, he’s just talking about how his mental determination has improved in the last couple of years.
