EX-CLUSIVE: first look at Arsenal’s new WHITE Puma away strip

The Mirror broke with the headline that Arsenal have agreed to a £170m deal with PUMA to supply shirts for the Arsenal starting in, uhhm, they are actually unclear on that fact saying… “The deal, which will not be announced officially for some time…”

But I had a friend on twitter @BayAreaGrimbo who tweeted this picture to another friend of mine and I can confirm that she replied “LOL”.

Seeing the photo, I immediately “swooped” as I believe this to be an exclusive, sneak preview of the new Arsenal away kit starting in, uhh, let’s see, Arsenal’s deal with Nike lasts another year at least, so, let’s go with 2015.

What, exactly, Arsenal will do with all the money from this deal is now up for speculation. Will they buy Cavani? Jovetic? Bony? Falcao? Aubameyang? Lukaku? David Villa? Cesc Fabregas?

Am I just stuffing famous strikers names into this blog post in order to generate more hits because if the deal is real then it won’t put money into Arsene Wenger’s “war chest” until the year after his contract runs out by which time all those players will already belong to Chelsea/ManU/ManCity?

Yes, but it’s for a good cause. Nothing generates hits like a “New Kit” post. And a “new kit” post, plus a “transfer war chest” post, is like that one time when Superman fought Batman in the future.

What I’m trying to say is that I hate comics.

This might sound stupid given the amount of money they would be paying us, but I’m actually abit gutted. Nike make the best kits, and for the biggest teams. Puma kits are horrible. What team wearing Puma ever won anything? Arsenal always had the nicest kit…not anymore :(

Nike do NOT make the best kits – just look at the last decade of Arsenal! Nike were great in the 90′s – but they’re not the same label anymore. Puma have always made the best trainers & boots – Puma King is still the pantheon of all boots – and they easily have the coolest logo. Also, Arsenal will now be Puma’s leading club, so they will push the publicity to the max.

Yep, we’re gonna win the Champions League in a Puma shirt!

Sebastian the reason “puma” teams don’t win things is because Nike and Adidas can usually throw more money at the biggest and usually already historically successful teams. It’s not the brand of the kits that makes teams win but big brands will usually have more money to get deals with winning teams. In saying that an example of a puma team winning something is Borrosia Dortmund have recently been doing quite well. At the end of the day though regardless of brand the main thing is if true Arsenal get more money with this deal.

With this puma deal we will symbolically be the manliest club in the world. Think about it. We have cannons in our logo. That is manly. Much manlier than a chicken for example. Our shirt will have a puma, which is manlier than a swoosh or lotus flower leaves any day of the week. See?? Manly.
