Billy Shakespeare

Shakespeare on…

Hell is empty and all the devils are here
– Stoke City

And though he be but little, he is fierce.
– Cazorla

Oh, wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here!
How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in ’t!
– the Transfer Market

Why, man, he doth bestride the narrow world
Like a Colossus, and we petty men
Walk under his huge legs and peep about
To find ourselves dishonorable graves.
– Wenger

Out, out, brief candle!
Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.
– 7amkickoff

Bid me run, and I will strive with things impossible.
– Ramsey

Which dreams indeed are ambition, for the very substance of the ambitious is merely the shadow of a dream.
– Samir Nasri

Wouldst thou not be glad to have the n*ggardly rascally sheep-biter come by some notable shame?
– Luis Suarez

One may smile and smile and be a villain
– Cesc (via @GiantGooner)

He’ll deliver all,
And promise you calm seas, auspicious gales,
And sail so expeditious, that shall catch
Your royal fleet far off.
– Arteta

This sanguine coward, this bed-presser, this horseback-breaker, this huge hill of flesh!
–Arshavin

He were better to be eaten to death with a rust than to be scour’d to nothing with perpetual motion
– Diaby

To say nothing, to do nothing, to know nothing, and to have nothing, is to be a great part of your title, which is within a very little of nothing.
– Tottenham Hotspurs

If you can look into the seeds of time,
And say which grain will grow, and which will not,
Speak then to me, who neither beg nor fear
Your favors nor your hate.
– Arsenal’s Youth Team

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.
– Nicklas Bendtner

By heaven, I had rather coin my heart
And drop my blood for drachmaes than to wring
From the hard hands of peasants their vile trash
By any indirection.
– What Arsenal Fans Want From Stan Kroenke

God hath given you one face and you make yourself another.
– Robin van Persie

The golden age is before us, not behind.
– Arsenal

The Bard of the Pacific Northwest has outdone himself yet once again.

With the fiery breath of the erstwhile Phoenix thou hast laid bare the foibles of the Prussian whilst regaling the mighty deeds of the descendant of the Monk Columbanus.

Absolutely love it my friend. Whoever thought Shakespeare was a football fan :)

That was purely orgasmic. Here is one from a devoted fan for your blog.

The Devil can cite Scripture for his own purpose. – Alex Ferguson

Get thee gone, or I’ll drag thee on a hurdle thither. – Roman Abramovich (to all his managers)

And since I cannot prove a lover, I must therefore prove a villain. – John Terry

This was unkindest cut of all. – Wenger on Cesc Fabregas

I’m typing these on memory, so I may have the exact wording wrong. But thou dost get mine idea.

    Tim,
For clarity the word niggardly has no derivation or connotations to do with race or skin colour. Lets not be PC mad on this excellent site, please……

I did that because of the NewsNow filters. They have been dropping my content for the last few days because of cursing. I am fully aware of the definition and controversy about niggardly.

You speak an infinite deal of nothing.
    – Harry Redknapp

Did my heart love till now? forswear it, sight!
For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.
    - Olivier Giroud

The troll doth protest too much, methinks.
    - Wayne Rooney

Thou art a very ragged Wart.
    - Ryan Shawcross

    All that glisters is not gold;
Often have you heard that told:
Many a man his life hath sold
    But my outside to behold:
    Gilded tombs do worms enfold.
    - Cole, Nasri, Clichy, Adebayor, Toure

I like this place and could willingly waste my time in it.
    - Sebastian Squillacci

Expectation is the root of all heartache.

There is a tide in the affairs of men.
    Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
    Or lose our ventures.

The Board, Wenger and this transfer windows activity

Yes I did have to look the whole quote up just liked it more than the first two lines that I recalled

Brilliant, I love one on Van Pursie! Great picture too, looks like William Ibrahimovic lol.

These are all brilliant. Especially Ramsey, Cesc, and RVP.

Most brilliant, I have to say, is the image. The Badass Bard. I love it.

“I am constant as the northern star,
Of whose true-fix’d and resting quality
There is no fellow in the firmament.”
    – Julius Caesar, before getting stabbed by the men he made. Does this look familiar to you, Arsene? “No, I did not see it.”

    The picture made me laugh.

Hard as one might try, there’s just no way to make a bald man with long hair look sexy, is there?

Evidence suggests Shakespeare was no bad-ass. People would probably be dismayed to learn that he has more in common with Kroenke than a tattooed and pierced misanthrope or footballer.

If you want a true Renaissance rebel, look no further than Ben Jonson! Under-appreciated. Or why not Christopher Marlowe: Elizabethan spy, assassinated in a pub, accused of sodomy and atheism! YEEEEeehaaaw!

Does Sanogo mean we’re not in for Bony M. after all?

I’m glad Wenger put paid to the Rooney rumors today. It was all just a bit seedy. I felt dirty by association.

I came on here for the latest gab on the most pivotal match of our season and I come away with a Doctorate in Elizabethan literature. Who would have thunk it. Take that Myles Palmer and Le Grove.

Trust the English FA to out asinine the usually asinine Uefa with only a 5 game ban for racism because the Uefa’s10 game ban proposal lacks “subtlety”. This idiocy does come from an organization that awarded first time caps to players who made horrendous tackles on foreign players in Shawcross and McManaman.

I know to occasionally expect the unexpected on this blog, but this took the cake, for all the years I’ve been reading.

And, I learned something new – it was Shakespeare who first wrote about a brave new world.
